7th Grade Castles in 2006

Every year the seventh graders at St. Pius make a model of a castle. This year we had some very creative ideas. The materials most-used were marshmallows, Styrofoam, cookies, tissue paper, plastic animals, and Lego men. The biggest castle measured 4 feet by 4 feet and the tallest was 2 feet in height. The students also had to make a coat of arms based on their research or imagination.

I also had the pleasure of interviewing my Social Studies teacher, Ms. Corriveau.  I asked her, "Why do you do this project every year?" She replied, ”It is a good way to learn everything I have taught you about Medieval Times and I love to see the creativity and great ideas the students put into them. Also, I like to do other things besides book work.”

It was a lot of fun doing the castles and most of my classmates enjoyed it, too.
