On Friday, January 6th, the 2nd and 3rd graders celebrated together the Feast of the Epiphany, the day the Three Kings came to the Baby Jesus. Special prayers were said and special songs were sung. The children learned to become shepherds and kings themselves. They learned that like the kings, we are all followers of Jesus, and that when we love, we are like the star that shone in the heavens leading the three kings to the Baby Jesus.

Following the prayer service they celebrated a special custom. Each student received a muffin and ate it carefully and slowly. A girl and a boy from each grade had a bean in their muffins. Those students were the Epiphany Kings and Queens for the day.

The royalty is as follows: King Andres Beltran and Queen Lauren Weakland in 2nd grade.King Paul Eshelman and Queen Samantha DuFour in 3rd grade.

It was a truly prayerful AND fun way to wrap up the holiday season.
