Martin Luther King Prayer Service

On Wednesday afternoon, January 18, a prayer service was held in Room 14 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This was attended by the second graders and the eighth graders. The purpose of this prayer service was to celebrate the qualities of peace, brotherhood, and respect for each other that Dr. King demonstrated during his lifetime. The students prayed, lit a Peace Candle, sung songs about Dr. King, and made Peace Necklaces on which they wrote how they themselves will be "peacemakers". These necklaces on on display on the bulletin board in the main hallway The service closed with a rousing rendition of We Shall Overcome.
