Monster Shoes Consume Sixth Graders

Article by Ms. Nicole Schaefer, photos by Mr. Dave Thompson

Or should it read, "Sixth Graders Consumed by Monster Shoes"? Just like last year with the Pigs On Parade project, Ms. Schaefer assigned all sixth graders to choose a staff member to help with the creation of their own Shoe Monster. They were required to interview their chosen staff member and determine what kind of shoe monster should be made. It could be something that represents the staff member, the classroom or subject that they teach, or something completely wild and crazy that had nothing to do with either. Their job was to plan a time to speak with the staff member, discuss ideas, draw up a sketch (or 2) and have it okayed by the staff member. After that they were to execute their design. They were allowed to cut into the shoe, add things to it (hair, teeth, "clothing", or anything the staff member or student wanted to bring in), and paint it.......the "sky" was the limit.

As you can see, the results were amazing!
