Student Prayers are Sacrificed
Article and photos by Mr. Dave Thompson

On Holy Thursday, St. Pius X School gathered in the church worship space to reenact Jesus' Washing of the Apostles' Feet by washing the hands of all the students and teachers at St. Pius. Afterward everyone went outside to watch Fr. Steve sacrifice, by burning, prayers that were written on small pieces of paper. These pieces of paper contained the prayers that were written by students over the course of Lent. Students placed their prayers in a wall that represented the great wall of the temple in Jerusalem. After the prayers were sacrificed, the ashes were placed in the garden that was dedicated to Mrs. Sue Treinen, a 3rd grade teacher, who passed away during the 1999-2000 school year.
