St. Pius X Catholic School

Uniform Policies

DRESS CODE

All students attending St. Pius X School will be expected to abide by the uniform dress code established by the school. The uniform of St. Pius X School reflects the seriousness and importance of learning and our pride in being members of this community. Inherent in the word uniform is uniformity. We encourage the students to discover who they are while at this school. However, we request that they not express themselves and their individuality by violating the uniform dress code. Parents are expected to monitor student dress to ensure compliance with the required uniform. Parents will be notified of non-compliance with the expectation that the problem will be corrected immediately.

This dress code is strictly enforced for the entire school year – from the first day of school to the last.

Repeat violations of the uniform dress code will result in that student being denied participation in the next out of uniform day. Further violations will result in a conference with administration and the appropriate action taken.

Occasionally, students will be allowed “out-of-uniform” days (Uniform Exception Days). Parents will be notified in advance of these occasions. Students are not to come to school disheveled or inappropriately dressed on these days. See the guidelines for these days for more information.

Final decision for any dress code violation, including hairstyle, will be made at the discretion of the administration. Administration reserves the right to amend the dress code throughout the year should need arise.

If a uniform exception day coincides with a Mass day, every attempt should be made to send the children to school in Mass appropriate clothing. It has been asked of us by the Pastor, that we ensure that no one comes to Mass with bare shoulders. This means that no shirts without sleeves will be permitted on Mass days. Children will need to wear a sweater or other covering during Mass if they want to wear a sleeveless top later in the day.

Final decision of consequences for any dress code violation, including hairstyle, will be made at the discretion of the administration.
